What is DMSO?

DMSO a naturally occurring substance formed during the wood pulping process, is a phenomenon remedy; capable of reducing swelling, restoring cells to normal function and also has anti-bacterial properties.

DMSO: What are it's benefits?

In the 1980’s an on-air presentation by Mike Wallace of 60 Minutes, questioned the FDA for its criticism and lack of recognition of the benefits of DMSO and their rebuttal was that certain mandatory testing was yet to be performed prior to further approval. While DMSO is not recognized by the FDA for any medicinal purposes other than its ability to treat interstitial cystitis, it is sought out by far too many people to deny it offers health benefits.

DMSO is a vasodilator, which basically means it enlarges small blood vessels allowing an increase in circulation in the area of which it is applied. This improved blood supply also increases oxygen levels that results in faster healing.

DMSO relieves arthritis, helps cells, tissues and organs regenerate, softens scar tissue, is a pain reliever and soothes burns. It offers quick relief since it enters into the bloodstream rapidly once applied on the skin. In fact, in a matter of minutes, one will detect a slight garlic taste on the tongue. This garlic taste is a natural occurrence of the DMSO and demonstrates how quickly it penetrates the skin and effectively travels through the bloodstream.

Not only does DMSO work well on its own, it acts as a carrier of other substances, increasing their effectiveness by providing the ability to break through the cell walls.

An added bonus of DMSO is as a source of sulfur, it also binds to toxic heavy metals in the body where they are eliminated through the urine. With so many items containing lead and mercury in them, this is definitely an advantage to taking charge of our health in a natural way.

In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of DMSO in the preservation of organs for transplant purposes and for limited use in control of a particular bladder disease known as interstitial cystitis.

Buy DMSO in Glass Packaging

This is pharmaceutical grade, organic DMSO liquid in a nice amber colored glass bottle.

DMSO is a great product to have in your medicine cabinet or first aid kit. It is commonly used to relieve muscle and joint pain, and is especially popular among athletes and arthritis sufferers. But did you know that it is gaining recognition for its potential to help in the recovery from Alzheimer’s, stroke and cancer?

Scientifically referred to, as dimethyl sulfoxide, DMSO is a natural substance derived from wood pulp and is frequently used for its ability to offer fast relief for joint and muscle pain. It helps speed up healing and has been known to put Olympic competitors back in the game quickly after a major injury. I want to share with you some things to consider when making your own purchase.

DMSO is available in varying grades and for health purposes you should opt for the pharmaceutical grade. It is also sold in different percentages of dilution and can be found in forms ranging from gel, cream, roll-on and liquid. And all of these forms can be useful. The point I want to focus on here is the packaging of your DMSO.

Now there are two common types of packaging – lightweight, clear plastic and thick, amber tinted glass. I want you to consider this when making your purchase.

So, initially you may be leaning towards the plastic container. Maybe you’re thinking it won’t break if it is dropped, and it is probably cheaper to buy because well, typically plastic costs less. But did you know that plastic is porous and is known to contain a number of potentially hazardous chemicals that can leech into the liquids stored in them? Now, me personally, any exposure I can avoid to chemicals and toxins, I’m going to.

On the other hand consider a heavy duty, amber colored glass bottle. The thick glass could endure some impact if dropped. And its amber color protects the product from being broken down by UV exposure. Also glass lasts longer than plastic, making it a better choice for long-term use and for the environment.

DMSO has many uses and benefits; and knowing it’s ability to quickly absorb into the skin and down into the cells, why risk any possible chemical leeching from the plastic bottle.

What is DMSO
DMSO is a 100% natural, organic substance - a byproduct of the wood pulping process, it is a clear, colorless liquid, naturally contains sulfur and has a slight smell of garlic. Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) has been used most widely as a topical analgesic, commonly found in a solution consisting of 70% DMSO and 30% water.

DMSO naturally contains sulfur, which is known to offer healing properties to the body. Consider the popularity of the natural hot springs that are so popular for arthritis sufferers. DMSO is capable of penetrating the skin so quickly that almost immediately, the receiver can detect a slight, distinct garlic flavor on the tongue.

Medical practitioners have used DMSO through intravenous methods and injections for decades and it gained deserved recognition in the 1970s when it was featured on a “60 Minutes” episode, discussing all the benefits it offered.

Though having shown positive results in remedying various ailments, DMSO is still not recognized by the FDA as a medical treatment for many issues that individuals use it for; thus the reason it is labeled as a solvent.

Regardless, many folks use DMSO for numerous health issues; some of which include promoting cell repair in cancer patients, reducing muscle and arthritic pain, skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, preventing long-term damage from brain and spinal trauma if used immediately and is considered a natural pain reliever and anti-inflammatory.

DMSO delivers relief quickly, as it has the uncanny ability to penetrate the skin and tissue membranes without causing any damage. This property makes it a wonderful method of delivery for medications, delivering it to the area in need for the relief of pain and inflammation.

Occasionally individuals have encountered slight skin irritation when applied, but that is easily avoided by diluting the DMSO.

For years, veterinarians have recommended DMSO for joint relief in horses and dogs; and athletes also frequently use it after hard workouts, competitions or injuries. It is available in the form of a liquid, gel or cream. When you purchase DMSO, you want to be sure it is pure and organic.

Whatever form you choose to purchase, just a small amount offers great relief.
